Advance Richmond played an active, community-led role during the Cowichan Land Title dispute, which raised serious concerns for property owners across British Columbia — including Richmond.
When news emerged of a family nearly losing their land title due to a controversial court ruling, many residents feared that similar risks could impact homeowners in our city.
To ensure Richmond families fully understood their rights and the implications of the case, our volunteers immediately organized door-knocking outreach across affected neighbourhoods. During these visits, we: explained what the Cowichan dispute meant for ordinary homeowners; raised awareness about the potential legal precedent; encouraged residents to stay informed and united; and helped connect concerned families with legal and community resources.
When the Richmond homeowner facing a related land-title concern stepped forward, Advance Richmond stood with them every step of the way. Our team attended follow-up meetings and information sessions, collected community feedback and brought it to local leaders, provided language support for residents who needed help understanding the case, and helped ensure that local voices were not ignored during the legal review process.
Through these efforts, we demonstrated what Advance Richmond stands for: protecting homeowners, defending property rights, and standing together when families in our community need support.
